As the name changed over the years, so did the sound and shape of the guitar until it became the instrument we know and love today.
The electric guitar became popular in the 1950s and 1960s. The guitars are connected to pickups, which translate the movement of the guitar’s strings into electrical signals. In this state, it becomes easy to add effects to the sound. One popular effect is reverb, which adds an echo effect to the music.
